The Word Puzzle games such as Anagrams and Crosswords are the most favourite kind. In crossword which is a word puzzle, white and black squares shape a rectangular or square grid. The aim is to complete the white squares with letters, with forming words by giving answers of some sort of questions or hits. For separating the words, the black squares are used. The other kind of word puzzle game is Anagram, in Anagram you need to make a different word with rearranging the letters of a word but you are allowed to use a letter only once.
Jigsaw Puzzles are one of the most known and well-liked kind of puzzle. The puzzle contains small puzzle pieces that have a small part of an image on it. When you finish putting all the pieces together a complete image is produced. There are 2D, 3D and nowadays online Jigsaw puzzles available.
Logic Puzzles have several kinds of puzzles. Logic puzles are mathematic based games such as popular puzzle game Sudoku. Apart from Sudoku, there are also some other logic based puzzle games such as Kakuro, Nonograms etc.
Combination Puzzles are a kind of mechanical puzzles that you need to manipulate a few of pieces into new combinations by grouping. Tangram puzzle and the Rubik’s Cube are the most popular combination puzzles. The aim of these games is to make a specific form with using seven pieces.
Tiling Puzzles are puzzles that is contain 2D set out problems. You need to gather a several of flate forms into a larger form but you need to be carefull for not overlaping them. In some tiling puzzles you need to break into pieces of a given form and turn them into a different form. Domino tiling and Conway puzzle are the some kinds of tiling puzzle games.
Transport Puzzles are puzzles that you need to push the shapes around and try to succeed the aim of the game. Sokoban puzzle is the most popular puzzle in this genre.
Construction puzzles are one of the other genre of puzzle games. In this game you need to assemble a puzzle from a given pieces in a specific way. This is a main category and some tiling puzzles, stick puzzles and many mechanical puzzles are in this category as well. Bridge Builder and The Incredible Machine are some of the online puzzle games in this category.
Picture Puzzles are mostly well liked with children. Spot the difference and Connect the dots are in this genre as well.
