Home Exercises for Anxiety: 4 exercises proven to reduce symptoms of anxiety

Do you have anxiety or panic attacks? Would you seems that although you have anxiety, medication is not for you? Or maybe you are taking medication, but want to supplement with some home exercises for anxiety to get even better results?

There are many things you can do at home to relieve symptoms of anxiety, reduce anxiety or even prevent it. The number one key to treatment or disposal of anxiety is relaxation, and the University of Michigan has published the Health Center as a guide to explain why both need to learn to relax and how.

The guide refers to the relaxation response, defined as "their personal ability to make your body release chemicals and brain signals that cause your muscles and organs slow down and increases blood flow to the brain. "The drugs may to some extent, help to achieve this goal, but did you know you have the ability to do it yourself without the help of drugs?

There are several ways different methods of achieving the relaxation response, but it is important to understand what is before going into the how. When I talk about relaxation as a home exercise for anxiety, I am not talking about taking a nap or relax on the sofa. The relaxation we are looking for is a state where your body relaxes while his mind remains alert.

Examples relaxation techniques you can use as home exercise for anxiety is meditation, yoga, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and visual image. Do not be discouraged if you feel that your anxiety will evaporate immediately and to start practicing relaxation, all these are techniques that can be taught, and the more practice the better the results.

So how exactly do these exercises at home to work anxiety, and that one of the most effective? According to the University of Michigan Health Center, there is no indication that any of these techniques are superior to the rest, but all the work and can practice, some or all of them. Up to you to find that the most appropriate for you.

Meditation

There are lots of different types Meditation can help you, but conscious meditation practice seems to be the one that has the best performance on anxiety. Mindful meditation is in being fully present in the moment. When using mindfulness meditation as a home exercise for anxiety, try not to focus on anything but what is happening at this very second. Focus on a word or a phrase like "peace" or "I'm very relaxed," and I repeat to yourself over and over again. If you have difficulty to use words, you can try counting slowly or focusing on your breathing. If you notice that you are "space" or that your mind wonders, only gently same reel back in that by focusing on mantra or your breathing.

Yoga
Yoga is also to be present at the time. There are many different styles of yoga, and you can get DVD's of a guided yoga class at home. If you are completely new to yoga, I would recommend to go to yoga class beginners to learn to do the postures correctly. This will help you get more out of your home exercises for anxiety, and learn to avoid injury.

Progressive muscle relaxation

Progressive muscle relaxation may sound complicated, but it is not. It is simply put a series of exercises in which tense your muscles before slowly relaxing. The "science" behind this technique is that people with high stress and anxiety in their lives tend to have time the muscles, even when resting. By tightening the muscles in one area at a time and relaxes your muscles will not only return to the condition prior that the tense, will be more relaxed.

Visual Imagery

Visual Imagery is all about how to use your own imagination to distract of their anxiety. If you experience severe anxiety, you may not initially believe that using your imagination can be one of the really effective home exercise for anxiety, but it can really. Visual Imagery is not just imagining things, on the use of certain techniques to activate all your senses while you are viewing. It may take a little practice to get into the art of visual images, but when it does, you learn to focus all your concentration into your images and is a quick and easy way to overcome anxiety and panic.

Deep breathing

Deep breathing is different than a lot breathing. When people are stressed or anxious tend to breathe a lot of short, shallow breaths. According to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Rapid, shallow breathing in our upper chest creates short restless brain waves. Deep breathing in the abdomen and chest does not only create longer slower brain waves similar to those we have when we are relaxed. Practice deep breathing techniques is an easy and highly effective home exercise for anxiety.
