Sudoku puzzles are puzzles that have also been called wordless crossword puzzles. Sudoku Puzzles are often solved through lateral thinking and have been doing a great impact worldwide.

Also known as Number Place, Sudoku puzzles are in fact the placement of logic-based puzzles. The object is to enter a numerical value digits 1 through 9 in each cell that is in a grid 9 x 9 which is sundivided in 3 x 3 subgrids or regions. Several figures are often given in some cells. These are referred to as given. Ideally, the end of the game each row, column and region must contain only one instance of each number from 1 to 9. The patience and logic are two qualities that are needed to complete the game.

Number puzzles similar to Sudoku puzzles have been in existence and have found many publications in the newspapers for more than a century. For example, Le Siècle, a daily newspaper in France, presented in 1892, a 9×9 grid with 3×3 sub-squares, but used only two-digit numbers rather than the current 1-9. Another French daily, La France, created a puzzle in 1895 that used the numbers 1-9, but had no 3×3 sub-squares, but the solution 1-9 leads in each of the 3 x 3 sub-zones in the seats would be. These puzzles were regular features in several other newspapers, including L'Echo de Paris nearly a decade, but unfortunately, disappeared with the arrival of the First World War.

Howard Garns, a retired architect of 74 years of age and manufacturer independent puzzle was considered by the designer of the modern Sudoku puzzle. Its design was first published in 1979 in New York by Dell, through of its magazine Dell Pencil Puzzle and Word Games under the title Number Place. Garns creating "the most likely inspired by the invention of Leonhard Euler's Latin square, with some modifications, basically, with the addition of a regional restriction and the presentation of the game like a puzzle, providing complete and partial network, which requires the solver to fill the empty cells.

Sudoku puzzles were brought to Japan by the publishing company Nikoli puzzle. Introduced the game in its monthly Nikoli document sometime in April 1984. Maki Kaji Nikoli president was given the name Sudoku, a name that the company has the trademark rights, others Japanese media that offered the puzzle have to settle for alternate names.

In 1989, Sudoku Puzzles entered the arena of video games when it was published as DigitHunt on the Commodore 64. It was introduced by Loadstar Publishing / Softdisk. Since then, other computerized versions of Sudoku puzzles have been developed. For example, Yoshimitsu Kanai event for several computer puzzle game under the name Single Number for the Apple Macintosh in 1995, both in English and Japanese language for the Palm (PDA) in 1996, and for Mac OS X in 2005.
