I do not understand these problems answering hopefully you can guide me through the explanation and answers: 1. I subscribe to the club-of-month comic. Every month I can buy any number of the 48 titles offered by the club. The first month I bought five comics 3.07 dollars. The second month I bought two comics for $ 1.72. The next month I bought six of the offerings of the club for $ 3.52. In May I bought three more for a fee of $ 2.17. The club charges a handling fee and a fee for each comic. How much does that cost to buy the 48 titles at the same time?

The question does not say if all the comics cost the same. Assuming they do, let the cost of a comic c = and the handling fee = h. Then we can find H and C the same time by solving the equations for any two transactions. I will use the first two: h + 5c = $ 3.07 + $ 1.72 = 2c h Subtracting the second equation the first, we obtain c 3c = $ 1.35 = 45 cents and $ 1.72 = h – 2c = $ 1.72 to 90 cents = 82 cents. (I note that h + 6c = 82 cents + (6 x 45) cents = $ 3.52 and h = 82 cents + 3c + (3 x 45) = $ 2.17 cents, so obviously the comics are in fact all the same price.) The cost of buying 48 titles at once = 82 cents + (48 x 45) cents = 82 cents + $ 21.60 = $ 22.42
