Hello everyone, I need help solving this math word problem, please help, much appreciated. Honestly, its a little fun, like a puzzle. Mary Beth is a supervisor of a unit composed of four employees – Cheryl, Susan, Fred and Michael. Economic difficulties dictates that the organization needs to reduce the size of its operations and Mary Beth have to let two employees go. The organization decided to retain or terminate employees based solely on seniority. * Mike has more seniority than Cheryl. * Fred has more seniority than Sue. * Fred has more seniority than Cheryl. 1. Mike will be terminated A) True B) False C) Unknown 2. Sue will be terminated A) True B) False C) Unknown

Based on the information given above, the answer is unknown C for both. First of all, the problem does not specify (although it can be inferred) that those with seniority (Have been with the company the longest) will not lose their jobs. There are four employees and two to go, so that the bottom two were fired. Call 1 employees (person who has been there more amt of time), 2, 3 and 4 (who has been there for at least amt of time) From Mike and Fred have more seniority than Cheryl, we know Cheryl is or # 3 or # 4 as will be gone for sure. Fred has more seniority than both Sue and Cheryl, so it must be # 1 or # 2 and stay safe.
