Not taking long-term statin affects the liver?
I have 52 years. I've been on 20 mg / day statin Lipitor for 4 years to correct excess blood cholesterol. Over the last year or so, I've been increasingly tired, especially after exercise or when lying down or getting up late early, mentally confused where I have lost the memory of my mother 83 years of age, Yuk feeking most of the time, pins and needles to sleep. Blood tests revealed a severe deficiency of vitamin D and some insulin resistance. I am also getting fatter. Statins are the wonder drug that prevents me from getting a stroke or a heart attack, or should stop immediately?
Statins can be a wonder drug, however have side effects that cause problems in some people can and do affect the liver that can and do affect people and the emotional well-being can affect movement and talking to your doctor, tell that are experiencing significant symptoms yu, find out what you are prescribing statins … Is it for you benefit (ie that have a risk Serous heart attack, high cholesterol … its very possible tha tyou could achieve similar effects by other means theraputic statins. IIRC statins to lower cholesterol is one of the objectives of the GP set by the government putting up more cash for the GP. The doctor may advise .. but I know better, if your affectign its health then switch brands or stop completely. Yung OK to be sufficient for the threat of a problem, but ultimately your body do what is right for explain the position. may be that a different statin, you can not react in the same way.
