A man is rowing upstream in a rowboat with a bottle of soda sitting on the stern. As rows under a bridge, bumps on a boat rock and bottle of soda falls into the river without the knowledge of the rower. Twenty minutes later while rowing current man discovers that his lack of sodium, which immediately turns around and row down to find his bottle. A mile beyond the bridge, is the bottle, What was the current rate?
Answer: 1 mile in 40 minutes = 1.5 mph —– explanation: —————– the current is carrying both the boat rowing and downstream soda bottle at a constant rate. which in effect with respect to the flow of boat has been limited to 20 minutes paddling upstream and downstream 20 minutes in these 40 minutes, the current has carried the bottle of soda 1 miles downstream
