Can anyone help me with a brain teaser question, please?

I have a second hand CD Enigmas in it (in each test to the questions follow a pattern set) … Math / words / shapes / Logic and I can score about 15 out of 20 … usually that I'm having a problem with … give the answer, but no explanation of how to get there. 1) What letter should replace the question mark 45 (F) 78 (S) 51 (F) 99 (?) And the post fruit has a special method of pricing items. How much does the pear? Apple – 11 Orange – 15 Grapefruit – 22 Grapes – 12 Cherry – 17 Pera -? 99 = "N" (45 Spelt is forty-five-letter F in the first place, 78 is written first seventy-eight letters S, etc) I'm struggling in the second. Usually it is necessary to assign a value to the letters A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, etc and then see a pattern to make up the cost. Return to this later if nobody else gets in first place!
