Before the days of the Internet, what we were doing for entertainment? Maybe some of us play sports, do cross stitch, or some of us play with puzzles. There are many different types of puzzles for different ages – crossword puzzles, number puzzles and puzzles. These puzzles can keep anyone (old or young) entertained for hours. As we shall see later in this article, puzzles are not only fun to complete, but are also highly educational. For young children, puzzles provide the much needed stimulus they need. So how did puzzles to start?
Do you know that the humble puzzle is about 240 years and was invented in 1767 by John Spilsbury, an engraver and mapmaker? While teaching his students geography, cut the map into pieces and the puzzle was born. A stroke of genius perhaps. But the puzzle has somehow managed to mainstream popular, almost as if by a divine path. Perhaps inspired by John, parents puzzle now widely used to educate their young.
Many parents buy for their puzzle offspring as educational toys. Doing puzzles can help in the development of several brain functions simultaneously as the child has fun and learns. The development sequence, logical thinking, analysis and hand-eye coordination are just some of the value of the puzzle. Some puzzles also have specific learning, for example, is a map of the world or the solar system.
Some parents buy puzzles for your children when they are very young. Children see puzzle as toys, and certainly welcome in view of the puzzle of colors. The first time working on a jigsaw puzzle is often a slow process, because children who are not familiar with the images. Do it a few times, and would certainly be able to improve his time. Try to compete with their children to complete a puzzle some time. Would certainly be a fun experience.
As with everything else in our lives, technology was an influence. Today we do not have to buy a physical box puzzle, lay out all the pieces on the floor and worry that their dog would eat up some pieces. Nor must worry about the definition of the puzzles, and wondering where to hang them.
Online puzzles are easily accessible, more convenient and the whole family can play. Today, you may feel like making a piece of the puzzle 64 of the New York skyline and a puzzle of 81 pieces of Picasso Jacqueline in Studio. Tomorrow might want to do something more difficult and choose a puzzle of 100 pieces that show nothing but glass bottles, not much color and detail. Their 5-year-old can might want to make the same picture, but at a lower level of difficulty, say, 16 pieces.
New puzzles are being added constantly, so you never run doing puzzles. You could try the daily puzzles, with a different image each day. Or why not add a picture of your family and make a puzzle about it? You can also redo the same puzzle over and over again, and get your time in the Hall of Fame. The possibilities are endless and it is a good way relieve stress!
